Comparison of Results in Operative Treatment for Neer type 2 Distal Clavicle Fracture

Abstract
Purpose
To analyze and compare the results of the patients who underwent the operation using different surgical techniques for Neer type 2 distal clavicle fracture. Materials and Methods: We analyzed and compared the each surgical techniques such as, plate fixation, Phemister method, closed intramedullary fixation, Kwire fixation and screw fixation in 24 patients who underwent an operation for Neer type 2 distal clavicle fracture between November 1998 and June 2006. The analysis is based on MSRS clinical bone union and radiological bone union. Results: As a results, in plate fixation group(8 cases), we got 7 excellent cases and 1 good case. In Phemister method group(11 cases), 7 excellent cases, 2 good cases, 1 fair case, and 1 poor case, and in closed intramedullary fixation technique group(4 cases), 3 good cases, 1 poor case, in other hand, by using AC screw fixation, we got 1 poor case. Conclusion: The internal fixation technique with Tplate, we got better prognosis about acromioclavicular joint motion and more delayed union than other surgical techniques.
