Abstract
We analyzed 65 wrist arthroscopic procedures based on the arthroscopic findings, operation methods and complications. 30 TFCC lesions, 22 rheumatoid arthritis wrists, 8 distal radius fractures and 6 carpal instabilities were included. For TFCC lesions, 24 partial excisions and 6 repairs were performed. 22 rheumatoid arthritis patients had arthroscopic synovectomies. In 8 distal radius fractures, 6 had associated scapho-lunate ligament injuries and 3 had TFCC tears. For scapho-lunate instabilities, one percutaneous pinning and 2 laser shrinkage ligamentoplasties were performed under the arthroscopic control. Wrist arthroscopy should be useful in diagnosis and treatment of TFCC lesions and intercarpal ligament injuries. Hypertrophied synovium can be removed arthroscopically in rheumatoid arthritis wrists. In the case of distal radius fracture, arthroscopy is useful in assessing intra-articular soft tissue lesions.
