Abstract |
Total wrist fusion is a reliable procedure for painful and deformed wrist. However, several disadvantages, limitation of rotation of forearm and problem in distal radioulnar joint are remained. For solving these problem, we performed total wrist fusion combined by distal radioulnar arthrodesis with surgical creation of a pseudoarthrosis in the distal ulna(Sauv-Kapandji procedure) to treat six wrist which showed severe pain or deformity. The purpose of study is the evaluation of clinical results and the time to fusion after these procedure. All cases showed relief of pain and excellent results in Buck-Gramcko score. In rotation of forearm, the wrists showed excellent results in supination 87.5o and pronation 85o. Solid fusion was achieved within postoperative 12 weeks and at last follow-up, the fused wrist angle showed extension 14¡Æand ulnar deviation 6¡Æ. Wrist fusion combined with ulnar pseudoarthrosis is thought to be useful method to make stable painless wrist, nearly full rotation of forearm and no problem of distal radioulnar joint. |
