Abstract
Spontaneous rupture of extensor pollicis longus after Colles' fracture has been reported since Duplay first described the condition in 1876. In its case, it is difficult to reconstruct its defect with direct end-to -end repair. Thus, many authors tried to reconstruct E.P.L. with tendon graft or tendon transfer using extensor indicis proprius and extensor carpi radialis longus, extensor pollicis brevis, but suggested that the tendon transfer with extensor indicis proprius would be better. The authors report two patients of ruptured E.P.L. after Colles' fracture, operated by the tendon transfer using extensor indicis proprius with an excellent result.
