Abstract
Fracture of the carpal scaphoid is one of the most common injury occuring in the wrist joint. Scaphoid fracture is classified by Herbert classification. In acute stable scaphoid fracture (Herbert type A2) is generally managed conservatively with plaster cast. However, long term immobilization causes inconvenience of daily living and more importantly, prohibits an early return to work even for the person who is not a heavy laborer. Since the Herbert bone screw gives rigid internal fixation of bone fragments and allow early mobilization of the wrist. The screw is inserted into the scaphoid through a small skin incision just over the scaphotrapezial joint using a free-hand procedure monitered under image intensifier. We does not used jig. This is the case reports of the acute stable scaphoid fracture using the percutaneous Herbert screw fixation. Results of both cases are excellent. We resolved the problems of the long term plaster cast by percutaneous Herbert screw fixation.
