Abstract
Ost eoid ost eoma is not a rare benign bone tumor that the vast maj ority of the lesions are locat ed in the long bones of the leg and about 5% to 10% of tumors are locat ed in the hand and wrist. The dist al phalanx of the finger is rarest location and only a few cases were reported in the world. Some obst acles such as rarity of osteoid osteoma in the hand, atypical radiological appearance, small size of distal phalanx can be the causes of unwant ed delay in diagnosis and unnecessary operation. For exact diagnosis, treatment and better awareness of this tumor, authors report a case of osteoid ost eoma in the dist al phalanx of the thumb which had typical clinical and radiological findings, along with review of the literatures relating to ost eoid osteoma of the digits.
