Abstract

The metastatic bone tumor frequently involves the vertebrae, pelvis, ribs, sternum, and skull. The most of the bone metastases originate from the primary sites of the lung, breast, prostate, kidney, thyroid, and gastrointestinal tract. In general, metastases to the distal part of elbow and knee are rare. Furthermore, acrometastasis to the hands is even rarer (0.2%). The case of metastasis of the hand in hepatocellular carcinoma have never been reported in Korea yet. We report one case of metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma of the distal phalanx of the thumb with clinicopathologic data and a brief review of pertinent literature.
