Abstract
This study was conducted to evaluation the postoperative result s including the subjective symptoms and electrodiagnostic findings after surgical release of carpal tunnel syndrome by double incision open t echnique. Fortyeight cases of carpal tunnel syndrome were operated between Jan. 1996 and Sep. 1997. But , twenty cases were available for this study. Surgery was done under the dist al forearm block and t ournique application. Postoperatively, subjective complaint s of pain, numbness and pillar t enderness were evaluated at 3, 6, 12 weeks and compared with the finding of electrophysiologic study. The improvements in grip strength match the reported result s of endoscopic carpal tunnel release. This technique provides for direct visualization with minimal morbidity, especially pillar t enderness.
