Abstract
Rupture of the extensor pollicis longus tendon caused by clean cut is sometimes seen, but by blunt trauma is rare and not reported yet in Korea. Cadaveric studies of the blood supply to the extensor pollicis longus have demonstrated a 5-mm area of poar intrinsic vascularization, This relatively avascular area of tendon occupies the distal pcetion of the third compartrnent at Listers tubercle. We report a case of rupture of the extensor pollicis longus caused by blunt trauma(a volley ball) and the excellent result by early secondary repair.
