Abstract
In this study, wrist position during unconstrained maximal grip and the relationship between wrist position and grip strength were investigated in 50 healthy subjects.(25 were males and 25 were females). Grip strength and wrist position were measured in the self-selected position and then were measured while the subjects angulated the wrist into 10¡Æ flexion and 10¡Æ extension from position of maximal grip strength. The average position of maximal grip strength was 36¡Æ of extension and 4¡Æ of ulnar deviation in man and 32¡Æ of extension and 3¡Æ of ulnar deviation in woman. The average value of grip strength was 47.7¡¾4.9kg in man, 26.9¡¾5.1kg in woman, and gip strength was decreased in any position of angulation from the self-selected posion with statistical analysis, but the difference is not significant with clinical correlation.
